Happy One Month Baby!

Today Austin is one month old, which blows my mind!
I feel like he JUST came home from the hospital.  He is still so tiny and newborn, but has also grown so much in the past month.
we have a weird fetish with monkeys...

At one month Austin:

has finally put on some weight! He lost 10 oz. in the hospital (which is more than a baby should lose) and we were worried he'd struggle getting it back. At his 2 week appointment, he was still 3 oz. shy of his birthweight,  but at 3 weeks he was up to 8lb. 5 oz. I have no clue what he weighs now, but by how much he wants to eat, I'm sure he's going up.

is a lazy nurser, I'm pretty sure! Nursing as been a long, hard road that I'm certain is not over yet. It's getting better, but still frustrating at times.  Not a day goes by that I don't contemplate quitting, but my goal is 6 months, so hopefully we make it that far.

makes the funniest faces! His lips are tiny, and he loves to purse them together while starring around the room (mostly cross-eyed, as you can see in the picture) So cute!

Is still pretty congested, he seriously has adult sized boogers! It's disgusting, and he hates it when I try to suck them out.

Sleeps pretty well during the night. He gets up once at 2:30 to eat, and then again early in the morning at 5:45-like clockwork!

Makes incredibly weird noises during his sleep.  (Noises that sound like a horse, or a pterodactyl!) This goes on for about an hour in the middle of his naps.  At first I thought he was waking up and one time I tried feeding him, but realized he was still totally zonked out! It's cute when I'm awake, not so much in the middle of the night when I want to sleep! He must take after his daddy when it comes to sleeping patterns...

Loves being in the bath now, hates getting out. Screams like a mad man when you take him out. He doesn't stop screaming until he is completely clothed, cuddled, and rocked. What a baby!

Is starting to spit up a ton! He used to just burp here and there and now he drenches a burp rag. Lately, he's gotten a little fussy throughout the day and arches his back like he can't get his gas out after feedings. We are wondering if he is a little colicky, and hoping it passes soon!

Is the biggest cuddle bug! His little head fits in my neck perfectly! :)

loves his fist and hands! They are always near his mouth, and if he can, he's sucking on them constantly.

Has many nicknames (most of which come from Grandpa Tracy!) Mr. Wiggles, Buddy Boy, Chief, Mr. Snuggles, and scooter-pop

ROCKS Tummy time! His little neck is ridiculously strong! He can hold his own! He even tries to army crawl when you put him on his stomach.

Has really big wide eyes!  I love it when he stares up at me with those big blue eyes-I swear I can see right into his soul!

LOVES to just stare and make faces at his daddy! He could stare at him all day!

Makes the CUTEST smiles (even if it's just gas!) He is starting to make tiny little social smiles, and I can't wait to see what his real smile will look like! He is adorable!

Is the best baby for our little family! He may not be happy and cheerful 24/7, but even his little cry is adorable.  We love him so much and are so grateful he joined our family.

Happy one month Aust, we love you!
